It’s 2024, and we’re done with sunscreens that sting, leave a greasy film, or trigger breakouts.
This is why I’m always looking for one that’s lightweight, soothing and offers good sun protection.
Lately, I came across Skin1004, a Korean skincare brand known for its gentle, plant-based formulas with its signature ingredient, Centella Asiatica.
I was impressed with their attention to even the most sensitive skin type, so I decided to try the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Air-Fit Suncream SPF50.
The sunscreen has been on my skin for a while now, so here’s my experience.

My Experience with SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu Cica Water Fit Sun Serum
I’ve always had oily skin, which usually wreaks havoc during hot, rainy, and humid weather. This causes me to look for sun protection that doesn’t feel heavy, gives no extra shine, and doesn’t cause breakouts. This one from Skin1004 seemed to cross all my checkboxes, which I bought from DODOSKIN’s website.
It has a very faint, pleasant scent that disappears quickly. The first thing I noticed about this sunscreen is its incredibly lightweight texture. It’s almost like a watery gel-cream hybrid that glides effortlessly onto the skin. Unlike those thick, suffocating sunscreens, this one absorbs almost instantly.
It gives a dewy, hydrated finish. However, during hot and humid days, it feels too dewy. As someone with oily skin, I have to use a mattifying powder to set it. If you’re looking for something that actively controls oil throughout the day, this isn’t it. It’s more about hydration and protection than mattifying.
I accidentally got it into my eyes once during application, but thankfully, there was no irritation. After consistent use, my skin felt hydrated and supple, and it appeared considerably smoother. Also, no clogged pores or breakouts.
Coming to its efficacy in actually doing its job as a sunscreen, it is on top of the game! I’ve worn it during long walks, outdoor markets, and even the occasional rickshaw ride, and haven’t gotten a hint of sunburn.
Pros
- Comfortable for everyday wear
- Stays put even with water exposure
- Surprisingly non-greasy finish
- Gentle and non-irritating
Cons
- Dewy finish might not be for everyone
- Can be a bit pricey
Final Verdict
The Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water Fit-Sun Serum is a fantastic sunscreen that feels great on the skin, provides solid protection, and the ingredient list is top-notch. But the dewy finish might be a bit much for some, and the price/availability could be a downside. It’s worth trying to get your hands on it, but it might not be everyone’s holy grail. The sunscreen is great if you have oily or combination skin and want a lightweight, hydrating product with a natural finish. But if you need serious oil control or prefer a matte finish, you may want to look elsewhere.
